Per the number of deaths reported:
We got official word of at least 40 deaths in Biloxi. No, they were not all in one apartment complex but yes, many came from the Cedar Point area. Not all.
We got no official word of deaths elsewhere.
We've heard rumors too. Terrible and fantastic rumors reach us regularly.
We will not be taking them seriously, nor posting them on this blog.
Again, we will be out and about quite a bit the next couple of days and will tell you what we can.
Thanks for reading.
Our hearts are with those affected.
We are honored to provide comfort to some of you.

I know you guys are proably swamped with request but a friend and I are trying to locate some of her family and their properties. She is in TX and has no cable tv and can not get phone calls through to them. We have not been able to pull anything up via the web on these areas...

She says:

My grandmother that stayed in Ocean Springs was in the Villa Maria Retirement community off of Porter Ave. And my other grandmother who evacuated, her house was (is, I hope) right behind the 2 story pink Souvenier City on the north side of Hwy 90 Between the Treasure Island & President's Casinos.

If you can provide any info we would be in your debt forever! beagle1@gmail.com or gingher@mercyland.

As a South African living in Nelson Mandela Bay I can relate to the devastation in New Orleans and Biloxi. We recently experienced strange phenomenon where waves as high as 35 feet slamming into lodges and trains along the East coast of Africa. I pray for you. SELWYN MILBORROW (Poet) SA.

I live in Wyoming and have only seen pictures of the devistation. I want you all to know that we are praying for you all and that we feel so powerless to help. A truck load of us will be leaving for Buloxi on the 24th to help where ever we can. As you are all in our prayers, please keep us in yours.
